Meet the Team
“Nothing about us without us”
At Reckless Wheelchairs, we believe your chair should be built for you — not the other way around. What started with one dad determined to give his son back his independence has grown into a movement redefining what a wheelchair can be.
Custom is our baseline. While most companies expect you to fit their frames, we build the frame around you. Every Reckless chair is handcrafted from high-quality parts designed to handle the roughest roads and the harshest parts of life — without ever dragging you down. Fewer bolts mean less noise, less maintenance, and a lighter, stronger ride built to last.
We’re not afraid of difference — we’re inspired by it. Every user brings new ideas, and our team turns them into reality with precision, creativity, and lived experience behind every weld. Because mobility isn’t just about movement — it’s about freedom, independence, and being unapologetically you.
Sami Rahman
Reckless began with Sami’s son, Noah — and a 42-pound insurance chair that couldn’t handle him. It was bulky, overbuilt, and no match for Noah’s strength — he’s basically the human Hulk. After breaking chair after chair, insurance finally denied another replacement and offered only a stroller instead. That meant taking away Noah’s independence — and for Sami and Laura, that was never an option.
So they started building something better, something worthy of Noah’s power and determination. From that moment, Reckless was born.
Sami’s the backbone of Reckless — the steady force that keeps the mission alive and the wheels turning. He’s battled dyslexia and dysgraphia his whole life, but what once felt like a setback became one of his biggest advantages. It taught him to think differently, work harder, and never back down. He’s the glue that holds it all together and the push that keeps Reckless charging forward.
Rob Deller
Rob’s been in a chair for over 32 years and has turned that experience into innovation. A C6–C7 incomplete quad from Central Pennsylvania, he leads the design and build of Reckless Wheelchairs and helps manage the shop side of things. Rob fabricates every chair that comes out of the shop, taking ideas and turning them into reality with precision and creativity. A lifelong athlete and former Team USA wheelchair rugby player, he brings the same focus and determination from the court into every weld and design detail.
Gabi Cha
Originally from Stockbridge, Georgia, Gabi is our go-to for customer service and project management. A proud military veteran who served as a combat medic, she brings discipline and heart to everything she does. Living with a T-12 spinal cord injury, Gabi stays active in wheelchair rugby, basketball, and pickleball—and she brings that same energy to helping customers every day. Once someone who “hated the wheelchair,” she now knows firsthand how the right chair can change everything—and she’s passionate about helping others find that same freedom.

Reckless Difference
-
1. Built by Users, For Users
We're wheelchair users designing for wheelchair users – we get it because we live it. Every chair is crafted with real-world experience and insider knowledge of what actually matters on the court, track, or street. When pushers design for pushers, you get performance that insurance companies and big manufacturers just can't match.
-
2. Ultra-Lightweight Rigid Performance
Our all-welded rigid design means every push transfers maximum energy to forward motion instead of wasting it on flex and noise. Less maintenance, quieter rides, and effortless pushing that lets you focus on living your life instead of fighting your equipment. Built tough but weighs light – because your chair should work with you, not against you.
-
3. Insurance-Free Customization
Skip the paperwork, denials, and "standard options" – you're the boss here. We build exactly what YOU want, how YOU want it, without having to justify your choices to anyone else. True customization means getting the chair that fits your life, your sport, and your style perfectly.
What They Say
FAQ
1. Why don't you accept insurance?
We choose not to work with insurance so you can get exactly the wheelchair you need. Insurance companies restrict your choices to basic, pre-approved options that might not work for your body or lifestyle. By paying directly, you skip all those limitations and get complete control over every detail - from measurements to features to colors. You end up with a wheelchair that's actually built for YOU, not what some insurance policy says you can have.
2. What's the real difference between your wheelchairs and insurance wheelchairs?
Insurance wheelchairs might be "free," but they authorize the cheapest parts available. Between your co-pay and necessary upgrades to get decent components, you'll spend $2-3k anyway - and you'll still end up with a bolt-together maintenance problem that wastes your energy through loose connections and flex.
Our all-welded construction eliminates those weak points completely. Every push transfers directly into motion instead of being lost through wobbly joints. Plus, our ultra-lightweight design means you use less energy to get around.
Spend a little more and get a custom-made Reckless chair that's built to maximize your energy and minimize maintenance time. When your wheelchair works efficiently and quietly, you spend your energy living your life instead of constantly fixing equipment.
3. How long does it take to make my new wheelchair?
Your custom wheelchair takes 10 weeks from contract to delivery. Here's the breakdown:
- Week 1: Order parts & create your custom CAD design
- Weeks 2-3: Manufacturing your frame
- Weeks 4-5: Powder coating for durability
- Weeks 6-7: Assembly and quality testing
- Week 8-10: Final prep and shipping (1-2 days shipping time)
4. How can I do a fitting if I cannot come to your shop?
We offer remote fittings! We'll guide you through taking your own measurements with detailed instructions, or we can work with a local physical therapist We also provide video consultations to ensure everything is measured correctly. Many of our customers are located far from Houston, so we've perfected the remote fitting process to ensure your wheelchair fits perfectly.
