Basics:
There are 2 sizes of the Reckless Wheelchairs Essential line of wheelchairs; 16" wide by 16" deep and 18" wide by 16" deep. Both chairs are equipped with 25" Spinergy SPOX X-Laced Wheels with hard anodized handrims. Both also come with an adjustable soft backrest and Stealth Simplicity G cushion. These are all rigid wheelchairs so the only adjustment is the footrest height.

Who is this wheelchair designed for?
We designed this line of wheelchairs for a few reasons.
- We get asked all the time for a high-quality all rigid wheelchair at a much lower price point than a custom wheelchair.
- Some clients just need a good inexpensive option to an insurance wheelchair
- Some clients want a second wheelchair
- Some clients are between insurance authorizations (every 5 years) and they need a new wheelchair
- Some clients want an alternative to cheap hospital chairs and insurance will not pay for something nicer
- Some clients do not qualify for an insurance wheelchair at all
What to Consider when Buying this Wheelchair:
All-rigid wheelchair. The biggest advantage of this wheelchair is that it is all-rigid. All-rigid wheelchairs have very little maintenance, are easy to push, and you have lots of energy at the end of the day. This benefit is at the cost of adjustment. You CANNOT make any adjustments to the chair other than the softback rest and the footrest height unless you have a hack saw and a welder. Why is this important? You need to be absolutely certain that these measurements are right for you because they cannot be changed.

Why We Designed this Line of Wheelchairs
FAQs:
1. Are there any additional shipping fees? Yes, possibly. Since COVID, shipping rates change daily and the auto shipment calculator cannot take into account an over-sized package. At the point of shipment we will get a final shipping cost for you. If what you paid initially for shipping is not enough we will contact you with the balance information. You will be responsible for any shipping balance before we ship.
2. Can you substitute or make any changes to the wheelchair? No. You can add other seating to your order, or other accessories, but we will not substitute any parts, do any swaps, or reduce the order because you don't want something. This product is sold as is, no changes.
3. Do you accept returns? We will accept a return within 30 days of the shipment of the wheelchair. The client must pay the shipping cost to us and we will only return the cost of the wheelchair, not any other expenses which may include processing and transaction fees and any shipping fees to or from our facility.
4. What if there is a defect with the frame or parts? For any parts that have defects from manufacturing, we will replace them within 90 days of shipment. Frames have a limited replacement of 1 year due to manufacturing defects. We reserve the right to determine a manufacturer's defect. In the event we replace the frame, one will be sent to you and you will be responsible for swapping parts. We will not pay to return the chair, make the swap and send it back.
5. How long will this take to make? For the early part of 2023 these chairs will be made to order and take 8-10 weeks however as we get further into the year we will ramp up production of the essential line of wheelchairs and the make time will diminish to 2-3 weeks.
6. What size person will fit into these wheelchairs? We have tested test both chairs with a 6 foot 4 inch, 245lb adult male. The tester was plenty comfortable in the narrower 16" wide wheelchair and did not feel like their knees were sticking out far. The wheelchair, parts, and wheels are made to hold up to 350lb. This wheelchair would not be comfortable for someone who would not fit properly in either the 16" wide or 18" wide. In terms of seat depth, out 6' 4" at a traditional equipment dealer would be put in a 19" deep cushion but we would not make the same person a custom chair that was that deep. You would want to have room to bring your legs back and tuck them underneath. For the 6' 4" users 16 deep would be plenty to support their legs and allow them to tuck them underneath.

My previous chairs, a "Drive" (only one insurance would cover) and a "Karman" ($600) were all I had experience with since I had to have an above knee amputation in 2017. I was fitted with a prostheses and was able to walk using a cane for short distances ( I am 69 Years old).Lately my remaining knee is getting bad and my balance was wonky so I developed a fear of falling. Although my new essentials chair is not "customized" with my precise measurements, I feel that it is perfect for me. I removed the footrest so I can self propel with my foot and still be able to carry things (I live alone). It is so smooth and takes little effort to move unlike my old chair. I am so glad I took a chance and purchased this chair. It fits me just fine and is a damn good looking work of art and function.
